My porridge addiction

Posted at 22:25 in Uncategorised

I think it is time to try and overcome it.  I’m serious.  I’ve found too often lately, I can’t be arsed cooking a “proper” meal at dinner time and resorted to eating porridge.  I can’t help it, I absolutely adore it.

I know there are worse things one could be hooked on than a bowl of oats but seriously, 2 bowls a day 2 or 3 times a week can’t be that good?

I had a lovely dinner of tuna steak, sweet potato wedges and roasted veggies planned for dinner and because I couldn’t be bothered chopping veg and steaming the tuna, I resorted to porridge again.  As a result, I have only eaten a lousy 2.5 portions of F&V today.

So, I hereby pledge that for the rest of November, I will not eat porridge for dinner again.  I’m too obsessed with the stuff to not eat it at breakfast so limiting myself to once a day is good enough for now.

I’ve also been thinking of my diet a lot more and I am contemplating carb cycling again.  Though I only have 1lb to get back to my normal weight, I *feel* heavier.  I also think I look heavier.  I admit, my carbs have been a lot higher since I started maintaining which isn’t a bad thing but I don’t like how they make me feel – bloaty!

I was surprised to not be aching as much as I thought today, though after my paltry weights yesterday it shouldn’t have come as a surprise.  It’s good though as it means I will be ok to hit the gym again tomorrow – yay!

I read a fantastic post on Jack’s blog – if you haven’t already read this guys blog, I seriously recommend it.  He is a huge inspiration and has lost 80lbs in the last 30 weeks.  He wrote today about not putting off til tomorrow what you can do today – it applies to so much stuff, not just weight related stuff.  Go and have a read!

Food has been crap crap crap today!

B: Porridge made with skimmed milk, rice milk, scoop whey, coconut, blackberries & pecans
S: Nothing – work was manic and by the time I realised I was hungry it was lunch time!
L: 150g chicken in wholemeal flatbread with spinach
S: 120g lean ham, babybel light
D: Porridge – as breakfast but with blueberries rather than blackberries
S: Cinnamon & Raisin bagel, few American hard gums, packet of wotsits *bends over to take slippering*

Drinks: 2.3L water, 6 mugs green tea, 2 cups regular tea (which tastes crappy since I switched to green)

Calories: A whopping 2667!  Will have to work some of those off tomorrow!
Protein: 180g (28%)
Carbs: 285g – OUCH! (41.1%)
Fat: 89g (31%)
F&V: A pathetic 2.5

I’ve sat and planned my food for the next couple of days and I won’t be straying from my plan.  Not sure why I ate the crap earlier, boredom most likely.  I’m not making excuses but TOTM is due soon aswell which always makes me super hungry – I guess with my fragile emotional state at the moment, junk food is going to look a lot more tempting than it normally would.

Anyway, enough moaning.  I’ll update tomorrow after my workout – hopefully, it will be a lot better than yesterday’s!
