Looking pregnant but feeling slightly better!

The last two days have been mega rough and it is all down to being a flipping woman.  Apologies in advance to any dudes reading, but this time of the month business is really starting to get me down.

Since I got sterilised a few years ago and came off the pill, my time of the month has been horrendous.  I was warned it would probably happen having been on the pill to control my periods since the age of 14, but I never imagined it would be quite so bad.  However, since having a LLETZ in December last year for the removal of some abnormal cells, things have been worse.

I was sent for an ultrasound scan earlier in the year which didn't really reveal anything out of the ordinary apart from a couple of small cysts on my right ovary.  The chronic pains I'm getting though are on the left hand side and there was nothing abnormal detected on that side.

Pain killers don't help, I can't take anti-inflammatories due to Gastroesophageal reflux disease, I have tried mefanamic acid and tranexamic acid and none of it helps.  The first 2 days of my period are spent with me huddled in a ball, with a heat pack on my tummy in absolute agony.  It's so not fun.

Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better this evening so I thought I would come on and update.

Today should have been a weigh in day for me but I didn't even bother to step on the scales this morning.  Mostly, because I couldn't even stand up straight but also because my stomach has seriously resembled that of a woman who is 6 months pregnant.  I am not even close to kidding!

Here is a picture to prove it:

My poorly bloated tum and what it normally looks like

Who the hell would want to be a woman huh!  I'll be glad in a day or two when it finally goes back down!

Food today has been good, even though all I've wanted to do is sit and eat crap and feel sorry for myself!

B: Porridge made with skimmed milk, scoop whey, raspberries, blueberries & flaked almonds
S: Carrots & houmous
L: 3(!) boiled eggs with 2 slices wholemeal seeded toast
S: Nakd bar
D: Prawn stirfry
S: 150g Greek yoghurt, 1/2 scoop whey & crumbled nakd bar
S: Banana split lengthways and filled with almond butter

Drinks: 1L water, 8 cups green tea

Calories: 2064
Protein: 147g (30%)
Carbs: 176g (32%)
Fat: 87g (38%)
F&V: 10

Exercise: None - unless you can count flicking the remote control on the tv!

Yes, carbs and fat are higher than normal and protein is lower but the fact that I have managed to stay on track when feeling like utter shite is a miracle so I am really not going to stress about it.

I'm still hooked on the Grand Slam of Darts and my man, Kevin Painter won 10-5 earlier this evening against Kirk Shepherd and I am currently watching Phil Taylor vs Colin Lloyd.  It's been a fantastic tournament so far and I was gutted to see Anastasia Dobromyslova go out at the group stages as darts could use a young, sultry female!  Hopefully, we will be seeing more of her in the World Championships in December.

I'm really excited about Saturday as Mr JAG & I will be making a trip to Stamford Bridge to see my beloved Chelsea play against Wolves - come on the blues!

What plans does everyone have for the weekend?  Come and share them with me!

mate, after I got sterilised my periods got worse and worse to the point I was having to take time off work too.

then my doctor suggested a mirena coil - and I haven't looked back since.

ok, it makes a mockery of being sterilised, but god it works really well! I hardly have a period to speak of these days.

as for the tummy, looks like a big visit to the loo could be in order ;-)

ps, I'm working on Saturday (a 10 hour shift boo hiss) but have taken leave on Sunday as I'm running the Swindon 10k with a number of other WLRers and then in the evening I'm out with friends to see Lily Allen in concert :-)

I was offered the mirena coil but the reason I refused is because I read too many bad things about it. I just *know* I would be one of the unlucky ones that has horrid side effects. My colleague at work has a period every 2 weeks :(

Trust me mate, a big visit to the loo is not required, 4 times and counting today!

Boooooo to having to work at the weekend, but good luck with the run on Sunday and enjoy Lily Allen - I have a girl crush on her!

Hey Jo I am so with you on this one..My periods decide to come when they want and if I have missed a month or two when it does arrive it's terrible, really heavy. Not a good look when I work outdoors 8hrs a day!! My willpower completely disappears and I NEED bad things so I am impressed that you have stuck to your eating plan..I don't have anything planned this weekend apart from the gym with my hubby who has caught the gym bug big style which is great..lol.
Take care and have a fab time at football.

Best way is to be a man. Man up, grow some balls, sorted. Hehe, just messing. I'm glad the only pain I get is doms and probably that slap from jag heading my way.

Hey Angie, trust me mate, my willpower was not so good yesterday! I had to use ALL my willpower today to have a half decent day.

V, men get it easy! I'll save the slap for when I meet you for our training sesh!

I've also got a Mirena coil (to treat endometriosis) and frankly can't manage without it. It doesn't completely cure things (see Monday and Tuesday this week when I had hideous cramps all day) but it makes it manageable.

It is worth a go, I think - if it doesn't agree with you it's easy to remove and your cycle goes back to normal very quickly.

Geeky, I suffer with mild endo aswell and when I got sterilised, they tried to convince me to have one. I read a lot about it but decided against it. Might do some more research.

Chabs, I didn't realise you had been through so much, I hope you are ok now? Enjoy your relaxing weekend!

Choc, sympathies mate. Enjoy your weekend, I'm more of a strictly fan myself :)
