Inside My Fridge

Posted at 10:30 in Uncategorised

I received an email the other day from a reader saying she was curious as to what foods I have in my fridge, freezer and cupboards, especially as my family do not eat the same sort of diet that I do.  They eat mostly the same meals as I do but there are occasions when they will eat something that I wouldn’t, such as a bird’s eye crispy chicken breast, crisps or sweeties.

When I started my weight loss journey, I was of the opinion that my family should not have to give up things that they have been eating and enjoying for the last 10 years or so just because I am, as I am doing this for me.  I didn’t want to banish those kinds of foods from the house because this is a way of life for me – I can’t go through life avoiding anything remotely tempting so I had to learn to accept that there will always be foods in my house that might tempt me.

It’s actually the best thing I could have done because they don’t really phase me now.  Every time I open my fridge, I know there will be a drawer filled with mini bars of chocolates.  When I walk into my utility room, I know there will be a bag of different types of crisps.  When I go in the freezer, I know there will be a tub of Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ben & Jerry’s.

The good thing is, I have been eating this way for almost a year, so whilst these kinds of foods once tempted me and took the majority of my willpower to resist, I don’t actually *want* to eat them now.

I can cook the husband a big fry up and not want to partake in it myself and I can sit whilst they enjoy a treat from the chip shop and not be having to sit on my hands to stop myself from stealing some of it.

So, what is actually in my fridge?  See for yourself!  Foods that I don’t eat will be coloured red
