Woohoo I’m Back!

Posted at 22:09 in Uncategorised

My beloved husband has finally sorted out my computer!  It needed to be re-formatted in the end and he was also good enough to stick me in an extra hard drive as I was severely lacking in drive space.  It’s so great having a husband that is a computer geek!  Thank you Mr JAG *mwah*

I’ve had an awesome weekend but my food has been pretty shocking!  We had a day out in London yesterday, which was a spur of the moment decision late Friday afternoon.  I was scouring the net for various health food shops and sulking that I couldn’t get to Whole Foods Market as they only have stores in London.  I decided to give Mr JAG a call and ask if he fancied a day out in London on Saturday, fully expecting him to say no.  However, he completely shocked me by saying “yeah, I was going to suggest going somewhere for the day”.  Woohoo!  We took Mini JAG with us too as we have all been dying to visit the Imperial War Museum for such a long time.

The day started off great, food wise, with a bowl of porridge topped with strawberries & pecans.  However, by the time we arrived at the train station, Costa Coffee was calling me and I just couldn’t resist a caramel latte & caramel shortbread – aaaarrrrrrggggghhhh!  I did manage to rectify my indulgence with a healthy lunch of sushi and fruit salad – yum.  I sipped water all day and snacked on a couple of fudge balls, a babybel light and a banana.

The War Museum was incredible.  I highly recommend a visit to everyone, not only is it free but the displays and exhibitions are exceptional.  Mini JAG was awe-struck for the whole of the visit.  We finished off with the Holocaust Exhibition, which was unbelievably traumatic.  They don’t really recommend it for the under 14’s but it is at the parents’ discretion.  Mini JAG is only almost 13 but he has studied World War 2 since about the age of 5.  It’s not something that we tried to get him into, but his Great Grandfather was active during WW2 and he would love to sit listening to stories when he was little.  Since he was old enough to read, he has built up such an impressive collection of books detailing WW1&2 but WW2 is what he really loves to read about.  He read a lot about the holocaust and has asked me and his dad lots of questions about it so we decided he would be ok to see the exhibition.

As it stands, he was very mature about it all.  He felt very upset about parts of it, especially when we saw there were actual belongings gathered from the people that died at Auschwitz.  Reading what people went through and watching video footage from the survivors left us all feeling very humble.

After we left the museum, we headed off to the tube to get to Camden so I could visit Whole Foods Market.

It is actually quite similar to Holland & Barrett except they sell a much larger range of foods and they also sell lots of fresh, organic produce, such as fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, etc.

I purchased:

2 Cliff Bars
2 Raw Organic Food Bars
1 bag Jumbo Oats
1 bottle Organic Maple Syrup
1 pot Organic Greek Yoghurt
1 pot Organic Greek Style Coconut Yoghurt
1 box Green Chai tea

I was hoping they would have some coconut butter, almond & dark chocolate spread and some Larabars but sadly, they didn’t :-(

Afterwards, we decided to stop off at a pub for a drink and I indulged in a glass of red wine.  It started to go down a little to easily and it seemed like a good idea to order a burger & fries and another glass of red!  It was amazing though and I figured since I had pushed the boat out and ordered that, I may as well have a dessert too, so had sticky toffee pudding with custard! It was delicious.

We didn’t get home until 10pm but it was an awesome day and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Today, we planned a lazy day in pj’s but I asked Mr JAG nicely if he would run me over to Wolverhampton to hit Primark as I was in desperate need of some new, cheapy clothes.  I had a basket piled high with new stuff for Mini JAg & I so I shouldn’t need to buy new clothes in a while.

On the way home, we stopped off for a starbucks and the weekend indulgence continued with a caramel cream frappucino – drooooooooooool!

But, as my computer is now fixed and I can blog again, I can get back to normal tomorrow, which I am actually looking forward to as I’ve been feeling pretty sluggish as a result of the foods I’ve eaten.  It’s a good idea once in a while I think because it reminds me of how good I feel when I eat well.

Well, lovely bloggies.  I am off for a soak in the tub.  Hope you have had a fabby weekend, look forward to catching up with you all!
