Operation Butt Kick – Incredible!

Posted at 21:32 in Uncategorised

Wow.

I am completely overwhelmed by the interest in Operation Butt Kick – Phase 2!

That is just on weight loss resources!  There are also people signing up here on the blog, via twitter and also the facebook group!

I never dreamed OBK would get this big – it’s awesome!

After my fantastic 10.85 mile run yesterday, I woke up feeling extremely sore this morning.  My knees were extremely achey although they felt better as the day went on.  However, my ITB has been a bitch all day and is making me walk very stiff.  As I am waiting for my foam roller to be delivered, I am currently making do with a tennis ball.  Have you ever tried myofascial release with a tennis ball?  Ouch!  It hurts.  I really hope it is going to help though.  I definitely felt like there were some knots being worked out.  I’ll rest now until tomorrow evening and then get out for a recovery run.

I have something pretty big to share with you my bloggy friends….

I have signed up to the FAME UK 2010 Championships!  Tara asked me to sign up with her a short while ago but a lack of confidence stopped me.  However, after seeing my progress during the first phase of Operation Butt Kick I decided what the hell?!  A glass of red wine on an empty stomach on Saturday definitely helped with my decision making hahaha!

So, May 29th, I will be taking part in my first ever fitness competition – aaaaarrrrggghhhh!

I figure the FAME competition will be a good, relaxed competition to see how I feel about being on stage, if I like the idea of competing and if it is something I want to do a little more seriously.  If I do, I may consider signing up for NABBA’s Miss Toned Figure 2011.

I’m so nervous though.  Signing up for the competition means the next 8 weeks require a super strict diet and absolute consistency with my training plan.

Today has been a good day.  I started off the day with a more modest bowl of porridge, containing 50g jumbo oats, 300ml almond milk, raspberries & pecans.

Mid morning was the usual skimmed latte.

For lunch, I made a frittata using 2 eggs, 6 egg whites, red onion, mushrooms & spinach.

Mid afternoon, I snacked on some grilled chicken breast, sprinkled with garlic and 2 babybel light.

Dinner was prawn jambalaya, which totally blew my head off – a wee bit too much cayenne!

Afterwards, I was dangerously close to caving and eating some chocolate as my sweet tooth kicked in.  In the end, I ate a flax 9bar which was oh so delicious!

Nutritional breakdown:

Calories: 1618
Protein: 150g (37.4%)
Carbs: 105g (24.8%)
Fat: 67g (37.8%)
Fibre: 17.7g
F&V: 6.6

Drinks: LOADS of water, 3 cups green tea, 2 black earl grey, 1 skimmed latte

Exercise: None – except for 15 minutes myofascial release with a torturous tennis ball!

You will see over the coming weeks that my diet gets a bit strict.  I won’t be eating like this all the time but as I am preparing for the competition, I need to get results pretty quickly.

However, as soon as the competition is out of the way, I will return to my regular, lovely diet :-)
