Hey guys, happy Tuesday!
My race number for the half marathon came today – eek! I’m so flipping excited, I’ve never felt so excited before a race and it’s only since I took off the pressure to get a good time. It’s going to be a ball!
I did have a bit of a panic because when I initially entered the half, I was a very novice runner and had only ever ran 4.5 miles. It asked for an expected time and I had no idea what a decent time for a half marathon was so I entered 3 hours – lol. It’s only as I started training and managed my 13 miles in 2h 5m that I realised I’d dropped a bollock. So, I emailed the race organisers and told them I had put in an incorrect time and they said they would change it for me. However, my race number has put me in the last wave of runners which means I won’t be able to run with my friend – booooooooo! I dropped another email to them and they were really kind and just told me to turn up with my friend and they would fit me in – hurrah!
The only problem is the wave that I will be in doesn’t start until around 11am – it’s going to be so hot! It will be a mega slow half for me but I don’t mind and I’m glad it’s going to be a struggle as I wanted a challenge to show how much my friend meant to me.

So, bring it on!
I’ve already exceeded my sponsorship target of £500 (thank you all to those that have been so generous) by raising £789 for The Stroke Association but if anyone else wants to donate, it would be most gratefully received. You can find my sponsorship page here.
The good news is that my knee is feeling LOTS better. I think the rest has done it the world of good. I’m going to pop out for a short 15 minute run tomorrow just to see how it feels and because it’s killing me doing nothing at all. I had a good foam rolling session earlier and sorted out a yoga routine that I’m going to try after my run tomorrow. I’ve never really got into yoga before, though I did attend body balance classes for a while so I know a lot of the basic poses. It’s something I’d like to do to compliment my other training and my fabulous body attack instructor is a qualified yoga teacher too so I think I’ll give one of her classes a try.
Food today has been just glorious. I started off with delicious porridge made with coconut milk, topped with Greek yoghurt, strawberries, pecans and a wee drizzle of maple syrup…
Mid morning, I snacked on 2 satsumas, a chopped apple and a skimmed latte…
Lunch was a can of tuna in a food doctor seeded pitta…
After work, I decided I was going to make some hummus. I get fed up of spending over £1 a tub and as I have all of the ingredients, I whipped up a batch of my own…
I enjoyed a dollop with some carrots…
Dinner was freaking AMAZING! My wonderful, generous friend and colleague Debbie gave me her Le Creuset griddle pan today! I mentioned to her that I was going to get one and she told me not to spend my money, that she had got one in the sale and had only used it once and hadn’t used it since. She wouldn’t even have any money off me for it. How sweet is that? A HUGE public thank you Debs *mwah*
As you can imagine, I just had to cook steak in it!
Served with salad leaves, cherry tomatoes, baked sweet potato chips and mushrooms & onions fried in a teeny bit of butter…
It was totally AWESOME!
Tomorrow is wardrobe day – for sure! I finish work at 1pm and it has GOT TO BE DONE! I can’t find any clothes that I want to wear – when you see the pictures you will understand.
Have a wicked evening!
