Thank goodness for husbands…

Posted at 22:42 in Food, Personal

because if it wasn’t for mine, my blender would have been in the bin this afternoon!

I was making a protein frappucino this afternoon and put in plenty of ice as I normally would.  It took a while to grind it down and my blender started making a bit of a protest.  After I had spooned (yes, it was that thick!) it into my glass, I came to clean the jug.  Now, I may be way behind everyone else here but after reading my daily update of Pimp My Protein Shake I read Allie’s genius post of how to clean your blender.  I always take off the jug, rinse out and leave it with the dishes to wash by hand, cue lots of moaning from the husband as he has mammoth hands and struggles to get it right to the bottom to clean it.  I could have kissed Allie when I read that she simply fills the jug with hot soapy water and whizzes it for a minute – voila, clean blender!  Something as simple as that yet it had NEVER occurred to me to do that – please, someone tell me I am not alone here!

Anyway, I came to fit the jug back to the blender and it was completely dead.  Nada.  I complained to the husband and said I needed to go and get a new blender so he got his electrical testing machine out and tested it.  He said it should be working.  So he changed the fuse.  Still dead.  A few moments later, it buzzed back to life and I was utterly grateful.  It turns out that I hadn’t fixed the lid back into place properly which is why it wasn’t blending.  And I was all for throwing it out and buying a new one!

Thank you lovely husband for saving me some cash!

How have you all enjoyed the hump day today?  My day has been pretty damn good.  I was day dreaming earlier about my ultimate wish list if money were no object.  There are so many wicked gadgets I would love for my kitchen…

What would be your ultimate wish list if money was no object?

Food today has been lovely!  The day started off with porridge, made with half coconut milk, half skimmed milk, Greek yoghurt, blackberries, raspberries, pecans & maple syrup…

Mid morning, I had a skimmed latte, cherries and an MP Max Maple & Pecan Virtue Bar

The MP Max Virtue bars have been very kindly sent to me by My Protein to sample and review.  They generously sent a box of maple & pecan and double chocolate bars and 2 tubs of MP Max Elle True Diet

Look out for reviews of these products over the coming days as I try them out.  The Virtue bar I ate this morning was absolutely freakin’ delicious!

Lunch was going to be an omelette but I had a carb craving so I made scrambled eggs and had 2 slices wholemeal toast…

Mid afternoon, I made my protein frappucino.  I made it with coconut milk and added in a scoop of smooth chocolate MP Max Elle True Diet – it made such a difference!  I normally add in a scoop of vanilla protein powder but I’m definitely going to be using chocolate from now on!

Dinner was lamb chilli with brown basmati rice…

I know you will all probably hate me for this but I am so hoping for a change in weather by the weekend – I never thought I would want rain so badly!

It is, hasn’t it come around quickly?! I’m praying for it to be cooler or even warm with a nice breeze. Ultimate wish would be for a nice fine drizzle but I think that’s asking too much :D

A Vitamix is on our wishlist – hopefully we’ll have some wedding fund left over to buy one with!

I can see the appeal in a Bamix, but a part of me knows I will settle for nothing less than the Vitamix. I NEED one!

I’d love one, they really are amazing. I love the look of the bamix too, if cash were no object, I’d buy both :D

Firstly, thanks for this post. Although I never post any comment on any blog but this time I though I should appreciate your brilliant effort and ask you to keep going. I just loved being here.

Hi there! I know this is a bit of a crazy request.. but could you post a photo of one of these bars (preferably the choc one) without a wrapper? I currently use another well known brand which is almost triple the price.. and yes I’m a bit tempted :-) but not sure as they are half the size!

Also, just wanted to say how amazed I am by your journey and the difference in your photos… I bet you feel amazing!

Hey chick, I’m so sorry but I don’t actually have any of them left. I’m ordering some more next week though so I’ll be happy to post one for you then. I can tell you they were roughly 10″x4″ so not huge but perfect for a mid morning/afternoon snack.

Thanks for the very kind words, I do feel incredible :)
