House Cleansing

We get the keys to our new home tomorrow!
I was thinking about it earlier and this will be mine and the husband’s 4th home together! You could say we’ve moved around a lot in our 8 years together. Our first home was sadly sold by our landlord after just a year of living there. Luckily, our letting agent kindly found us a new home that was not far from where we were living and was ready to move into. Unfortunately, the landlady had bought the house as an investment during the housing boom and got scared when the house prices started to fall and decided to sell. This gave us just 6 weeks to find somewhere else to live which took us to where we’re at right now.
This is the view from my kitchen windown, which will explain partly why we hate the house so much…
Not a pretty sight is it?!
When I got to thinking about our past homes, I realised that we’ve never really had much luck at all, with each house actually being worse than the last. Our current house has been the worst, with us both being fine and happy enough whilst we’re away from the house but feeling miserable and weighed down as soon as we arrive back home.
Being a pagan girl at heart and having dabbled quite a bit with magic and rituals in the past, I decided that when we move into our new home, I am giving the house a thorough cleansing to rid it of any negative energy. We will then hold a little house warming party with our closest family and friends and invite love, warmth and laughter into our home which should hopefully ensure our home is filled with positive energy.
If you haven’t heard of house cleansing before, it’s actually a very common ritual that involves cleansing the athmosphere to rid it of negative energy. It can be done with one or more of the following: A smudgestick or incense, candles, salt and water, bell ringing or loud music and physical cleaning.
I have my sage smudgestick ready…
and I will also use salt/water and candles.
You should also never take old cleaning supplies from your new home to your new house so all my old cleaning supplies have been binned and new supplies have been purchased.
I’ve always been very energy sensitive in the past and am wishing I had done something earlier in our current home to make life a little more harmonious. I’ve used magic/energy manipulation to benefit my life in the past and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. I’m thinking my neighbours better not piss me off any more than they already have until the lease of our current house runs out or I may leave them a little something behind ;)
Does anyone else have any experience of house cleansing? Or do you think it’s all a load of cobblers?

I love how your sage is on top of a book about serial killers ;-D
I’m sure your new home will be much better for you all!
Good luck with the new house. I hope it’s better than the one you are in now!
Wow, great to hear your into Paganism! I’ve been into pagan spirtuality for years but I haven’t really gone into it much on my blog. I have a book by Silver RavenWolf that has a good cleansing ritual in it, but luckily I’ve never been in need of carrying one out. I think the powder of ritual is in its effect on yourself as much as altering energy. I’m sure that performing it will make you feel so much more settled and happy in your new place x
Mike and I have managed 6 houses in just over 4 years, we\’ve had a lot of housemates we couldn\’t stand, for good reason though! And one of those was a 3 month stay at my parents between houses but still 6, it\’s pretty ridiculous when I think about it hehe. Good luck for the move I\’ve not tried cleansing any of the houses but maybe we\’d have had better luck if I had!
Btw on a side note is your spambot thing working, cause a few times lately I’m sure I clicked it but it says I didn’t.. there’s a good chance I’m doing something dopey though!
omg the power lines! nightmare, youre well rid!
I know, they were horrendous!
Blimey I’m not surprised you’re energy field is drained with that beast outside the kitchen window! I’m a holistic therapist & cleanse our home regularly as my hubby meets some strange characters in his line of work, I’m massively into crystals & always have some stuffed in my bra or pockets to combat negative energy/ people & to give my mind & body a boost if I’m feeling below par.
I’m so happy for your new move & I pray you’ll be blessed with good health, & lots of love & laughter xxx
I know, it really was horrid living with it overhead. The new house felt better even without the cleansing but feels so warm and inviting since I did it which is exactly what I wanted.
Thanks so much for the lovely words :)
I hope the move has gone well and can’t wait to see your next entry! Been away from things for a while following a bereavement and just catching up. All the best, hope your new home will give you the happiness you deserve x
Oh no, so sorry to hear of your bad news, hope you’re ok *hugs*
xx
