Operation Butt Kick – The Start

I had planned to commence Operation Butt Kick on Saturday and start it off with a kick ass workout with my beautiful friend Jess.  Unfortunately, I was really poorly over the weekend with lady pains so I had to postpone our workout.  Thankfully, Jess is a true friend and understood my plight and told me not to worry about it, to curl up on the sofa and to get myself better.  So, as a result, most of the weekend was spent in pj’s.

I’m 100% fighting fit now though and my motivation is the highest it’s been in a long time – the time definitely feels right.  I’ve half heartedly tried to get back into the swing of things over the last couple of weeks but my head and my heart hasn’t really been in it – until now!

I have gone completely back to basics, weighing and logging everything.  I logged into Weight Loss Resources this morning to find I haven’t actually logged my food since July 13th!  I was also utterly shocked to see just how big my portion sizes were – I’ve been estimating most things for quite some time now and when I weighed out my Greek yoghurt for my porridge this morning, I realised 50g that I have been logging is actually probably only 1/3 of the serving I have actually been eating!  My oats were also an eye opener – I’ve been consuming about 75g instead of the 50g I should be eating.  It’s no wonder my weight has gone up!  To anyone out there not losing weight and not knowing why, or estimating portion sizes, spend a week or two weighing and measuring EVERYTHING – it will open your eyes!

My challenges for today are:

(*) Log EVERYTHING
(*) Consume no junk food
(*) Attend body attack
(*) Drink 2L water
(*) Eat 5+ portions of fruit & veg

    Morning Jo, it starts for me today too :) I have been out walking for 2 hours with my dog and plan to eat healthy all day and drink lots of water and green tea (pina colada flavour!) I will take my pics tomorrow, dreading it :(

    Good luck on your challenge although I’m sure you don’t need it! I think my portion sizes have been creeping, I’ll have to look back at old blog posts and compare sizes in the pics as I’ve never weighed and measured! x

    I’ve been a bit of a portion monster, it was the oats that got me too. I’ve been using one amount for soaked oats and when I switched back to porridge last week the amount I used made two bowlfuls! Ooops!
