Autumn

Posted at 10:11 in Uncategorised

Or for any American readers, fall.  It’s my favourite season, along with Winter.  I love everything about Autumn.  The changing of the leaves, the crisp air, the first frost – it’s such a beautiful season.  Until I started training for my half marathon, I would only ever run from Autumn to Spring because I loathe running in the heat, simply because it affects my performance so much.  I used to look forward to those leaves changing colour and for the air to start feeling a little fresher in the mornings so that I could get my running shoes out of hibernation.  It’s so much prettier to run through the woods when you are running on a blanket of crunchy leaves with a clear blue sky, sun shining but a lovely chill in the air.  Damn, now I have the urge to get out and run!

Not only do I love the Autumn for running, I love Autumn fashion!  Hats, scarves, boots, trench coats – Autumn and Winter fashion is just so damn stylish!

What is your favourite season?  Mine are in the following order:

Joint first – Autumn & Winter…

Spring…

And finally Summer…

I completely agree with you! I love everything about the autumn, including the clothes. I am so excited that capes will be in this year – I so want one :O) Can’t wait to get out there and get some photos of the leaves changing colour.

I do love those crisp autumn days where the air is fresh and the sun shines off the golden leaves. I do not, however, love the damp chilly days where the damp gets in your bones and no matter how much tea I drink or how many pairs of socks and vests I wear, I stay cold!
I think it isnt the seasons I like, but the sunshine. A sunny morning in winter if there is snow or a frost is beautiful, blue skies of spring and summer are gorgeous too. I just love the sunshine.
I do find it hard to run in the heat, so in the summer it is up at 6am to run before it get too hot.
    :)

I don’t like damp weather either – a good sharp frost is what I like. I loathe grey drizzly weather as it’s so depressing but a clear blue sky, shining sun and frost on the ground is my perfect day.

I think I am the same as you – I just love the sunshine but prefer sunshine in cold weather :)

I’m doing a similar post to this tonight, I adore autumn, the crisp mornings, cosy clothes, bonfire night, baking yummy fruit crumbles, just everything about it! I have real trouble picking a favourite season as I just love them all but I do think autumn may just be ahead of the others. I completely agree that autumn winter fashion is far more fun than spring summer!

I’m a winter runner too, but I do love summer! I love cosy winter clothes and snuggling up inside with a big cup of coffee though! Maybe I am more of a winter person than I first thought haha

Autumn and Winter are snuggly seasons – I love sitting with the fire on, dressing gown and bed socks on listening to the wind howling outside – it’s so cosy! Plus the build up to Christmas which I adore :D

I am SO with you on this. I would much rather get all cosy in the Winter time than all sweaty and burnt in the Summer!

Ditto! I don’t mind the summer and enjoy the warmth but I do look forward to those crisp mornings when the sun is bright and the sky is clear :)

I love Autumn, all those beautiful colours and cold, crisp mornings. I can’t wait to start wearing all my lovely cosy jumpers, suits, coats & boots, a lot more chic & stylish than skimpy summer clothes. Spring is my second favourite, it always amazes me when things start to awaken after a long winters sleep.

Yes, I do like Spring too when the trees are covered with blossom and the flowers start growing – it is beautiful. Cold crisp mornings are the best, perfect for killing all those yucky flu germs!

Hi Jo…Spring, Autumn, Winter, Summer for me

I too love cold, crisp, sunny mornings – I like the Sun when it’s cold – I’m not a Sun worshipper during Summer when it’s hot – I think my ancestors must have come from the northern reaches of Scandinavia, I hate being hot.
I think being a bit of an old hippy I like Spring because to me it symbolises new beginnings and new life…it’s also when the Rugby Union season really starts to come to a crescendo !

I think I’m the same as you Adam – I prefer “cold” sun – it’s not the heat of the sun that cheers me up but the light it shines. I also love Spring because of the new beginnings and everything awakening after the harshness of Winter. I’m not a Rugby fan but I know how much you are :D

My favourite is summer, but that’s only because I’m nesh! Actually, in summer it is probably a little too hot to run, so I’d say somewhere between summer and autumn, which is… well, now actually! x

I love September when it isn’t grey and drizzly – shining sun and blue sky but a definite chill in the air

Funnily enough I was going to blog about the seasons but you’ve save me the bother.

As a kid I loved autumn – the excitement of a new year at school, leaves on the ground, halloween, my birthday, bonfire night and finally the lead up to Christmas.

I sometimes feel like I’m quite in tune with the seasons and certainly early autumn was a time when I felt restless for change in adult life but that might simply be that between 4 and 22 it always was a time of change at that left an indelible imprint.

As I’ve got older my views on the seasons have changed

    • Leeds Rob says:

By late February I’m desperately searching for signs of spring and am thoroughly sick of gloomy short days.

Spring itself I love. Nature seems filled with youth, vitality, energy and the season is full of promise – long days, warmth, holidays and I invariably allow myself to think that this year just might be a 1976 or 1995.

In early summer much of the promise will have been fulfilled – the longest days, runs off road early or late in the day, the first barbecues, the gardens alive with growth and colour, the sounds of lawnmowers and happy outdoor play and still the feeling that the best may yet be to come.

Almost invariably though the summer fails to deliver. By August the nights are just beginning to draw in and deep down you know that the ‘barbecue summer’ will once more fail to materialise – if it was going to happen it would have happened. I tend to feel a bit down then and with each cloudy day I feel ready for autumn and change, in part just to reject summer’s false promise.

As autumn changes to winter Christmas is always on the horizon and in some respects the long cold nights feel cosy but once the yuletide veneer is removed in early January the world seems a stark and rather depressing place once more.

I love Autumn too. My favourite kind of day is cold, bright & crisp.
September here so far has been a hot one – but it’s getting coler in the evenings & darker earlier
